Role Overview:
As a Business Analyst, this role serves as a key link between internal and external stakeholders, existing clients, and the software engineering team. The position involves gathering, documenting, and analysing business requirements to translate them into actionable agile specifications for software development. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, an understanding of accounting processes, and experience working with ERP and business systems.
Business Analyst (Accounting SaaS – Office of the CFO) - Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients, end-users, and internal stakeholders to document business needs, goals, and requirements for new product features and functions.
Conduct market and competitor analysis to establish requirements from MVP to best-in-class solutions.
Document clear and detailed business requirements, use cases, and agile user stories.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process flows and wireframes, to communicate requirements to the engineering team.
Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure development aligns with business needs.
Analyse existing accounting processes and software functionalities to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.
Review the product backlog, common support issues, and customer wish list items to identify valuable product enhancements.
Contribute to product roadmap delivery, aligning software development efforts with product strategy and industry trends.
Conduct design reviews, requirement walkthroughs, and development progress updates.
Support proof-of-concept validation and testing ahead of full development and QA handover.
Assist the QA team in ensuring software meets specified requirements and quality standards.
Review QA testing processes and outcomes to validate alignment with requirements.
Support product release handover to internal teams, including release documentation, demonstrations, and setup videos.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of end-user guides in collaboration with internal documentation teams.
Assist the Technical Pre-Sales team with complex accounting and business process integration opportunities.
Provide escalated customer support for complex product functionality and accounting-related issues.
Business Analyst (Accounting SaaS – Office of the CFO) - Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in the software industry, with expertise in accounting and business systems.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and industry terminology.
Proficiency in documenting business requirements, user stories, process flows, and agile specifications.
Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as Kanban or Scrum.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills to analyse business challenges and propose effective solutions.
Experience with relevant software tools, such as requirements management systems, wireframing tools, and software development lifecycle platforms.
Expertise in ERP/accounting system implementation is highly desirable.
Experience with SQL, reporting tools, and relational databases is an advantage.
